Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)

A Place to Stay While Your Long-Term Home Is Being Arranged

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) provides temporary accommodation for eligible NDIS participants who are unable to move into their longer-term living arrangement or need temporary accommodation while their disability-related housing arrangements are being finalised.

It can provide a stable place to stay during the transition, helping avoid unnecessary delays in leaving hospital, aged care or another temporary living arrangement while a person's longer-term accommodation is being prepared.

At Ardor Care, we understand that transitions between living arrangements can involve a lot of change. Our approach is focused on providing a comfortable environment and working with the participant and their support network to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

When MTA May Be Suitable

Medium Term Accommodation may be relevant when a participant is waiting for an agreed longer-term living arrangement to become available.

This may include situations where someone is:

  • Waiting for their long-term home to become available
  • Waiting for home modifications to be completed
  • Waiting for assistive technology required for their long-term living arrangement
  • Transitioning from hospital into their confirmed longer-term home
  • Waiting to move into an agreed Supported Independent Living or other living arrangement

MTA is intended as an interim accommodation option while a confirmed longer-term solution is being finalised, rather than a permanent housing arrangement.

Support During Your Stay

MTA funding covers the temporary accommodation rather than the everyday disability supports a participant may require while staying there.

Where a participant has separately funded supports, Ardor Care can work with the participant and their support team to arrange the assistance they require during their stay.

Depending on the participant's needs and funded supports, this may include:

  • Personal care and everyday living assistance
  • Meal preparation and support with daily routines
  • Community access and social participation
  • Building and maintaining daily living skills
  • Medication assistance within the participant's support arrangements
  • High Intensity Supports where required and within Ardor Care's scope
  • Behaviour Support Plan implementation where required
  • Support to maintain routines and prepare for the transition into the participant's long-term home

Support arrangements are considered individually and based on the participant's needs, plans and available funding.

Supporting a Smooth Transition

Moving between living environments can be a significant change.

We work collaboratively with participants, families, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals and other providers involved in the transition.

Our focus is on helping the participant maintain stability and everyday routines while preparations for their longer-term living arrangement are completed.

Where appropriate, we can also work with the participant's support network to help prepare for the move into their next home.
